Hypromellose is a non-ionic water-soluble cellulose ether, featuring a white powder appearance, being non-toxic, odorless, easily soluble in cold water but insoluble in hot water.

Compared with similar cellulose ether products, it has a higher thickening efficiency and is widely used as a thickener, adhesive, film-forming agent, water-retaining agent and emulsifier.
